splice source (from mp3 online stream): wwoz.org 128 kbps mp3 stream > Streamripper v1.64.6 (linux command line) > Sony Vaio vpcs131fm (running Ubuntu linux) > captured mp3 stream > hard drive > MacBook Pro (2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) > Quicktime 7.7 > (convert mp3 to wav/aiff) > aiff > see below.
A few dropouts of a fraction of a second were edited out in the recording. Two additional dropouts were repaired with splices from the online webcast (which was unaffected by dropouts). At 1:01 into Take 14, there is an 8-second splice from the webcast; about 31 seconds later, there is a 2.5-second splice.
Additionally, there are a few glitches in the recording that were inherent in both the FM broadcast AND the online mp3 stream. The glitches seem to be related to the station's use of a computer for recording or processing that seems to get overwhelmed or overloaded, possibly from an overloaded processor, a too-slow hard-drive or a fragmented drive. The glitches sound sort of like a single note repeating itself over the space of a fraction of a second. The issues have plagued WWOZ's live broadcasts for years. Two such glitches occur about 7:24 into Track 8.
