I have never had the chance to see Alanis Morissette, so when tickets went on sale
in 2019 for this tour, I jumped at the chance. I had no idea I would have a nearly
2 year wait to see it! Damn COVID. Since the initial announcement in 2019, Liz Phair
dropped off and was replaced by Cat Power. I did not get to the venue early enough
to tape her, but I heard great things. Garbage followed [recorded] with Alanis taking
the stage around 915. I got pretty lucky with respectful neighbors and decent sound
from my seat. I have only taped at Riverbend twice - 2000 & again in 2016. I really
do love the venue and hope to attend more in coming years. Alanis sounded absolutely
terrific. The only minor gripe was a lyric flub in "Hand In My Pocket", which could
have been for a litany of reasons - a possible IEM fail or she just plain forgot
where she was in the song. She recovered nicely 10 seconds later. She performed 7
short (partial) preludes, which were a real treat to hear leading into other cuts.
I decided to track these separately. Most were only a minute long. The real highlight
of this show was getting to hear Alanis' debut record performed in full performed for
the 25th (actually, 26th) anniversary. Without question, one of the most successful
important debut albums of all time. Put this one on your best stereo and check out
that singalong to "Ironic"! Wow!
