Taper's Comments:

1 - HELP!! If you have any uncirculated SPIRIT shows, or better quality FM
broadcasts than what's been posted here before, please share them. If you
know anybody who has shows that fit this category that aren't on DIME, please
dub off their stuff and share it. I'm trying to write a book on SPIRIT and need
all the information I can get. I have a database of over 1500 gigs 1967-1996, and
want to find as much information as I can to add to it. If you have any memories
of where you saw SPIRIT, the more specific the better (venue, city, date, supporting
bands, etc.), I'd love to know that as well. Please leave that in the comments
section or PM me. Thank you!

2 - Show description & comments follow:

The "Stanhope House" was a fabulous roadhouse in Northwest New Jersey, near Lake
Hopatcong. They booked an eclectic bunch of rock, blues, country, and folk acts. The
area was beautiful, very rural, and the atmosphere in the club was very relaxed. I saw
quite a few acts there, covering many of those genres. Sound and sightlines were
good, especially if you got there early, and snagged a good table. I heard that it closed
not too long ago, which is a real shame. There were usually two sets, which often made
for a very late evening.

This was unfortunately the only time I got to see the great Albert King, but I'm happy
that I had the opportunity. A loud, boisterous, and drunk crowd, but, hey, it's a blues
show, and in my opinion, it adds greatly to the listening experience. I went to the show
with a friend and his girlfriend, who lived in Lake Hopatcong, saving me a long trip home
with no sleep. If anybody can help with the band personnel, or the set list, PLEASE do
so! I left the show on four CD's, as to not destroy the continuity of the sets. At a
minimum, it would have to be on three anyway, so what's one more CD-R? If you want
to go to three, then I'd put Disc One, and the first three tracks of Disc Two, on one
disc, the balance of Disc Two and Disc Three on the second, and leave Disc Four as is.
All the Albert-isms in the closing on Disc Four are worth the price of admission alone!
