A RENDEL RECORDING
---

Rec. Info:
First 30 minutes missing, due to late arriving at the stage. Maybe the taper recorded another band at the Freak stage.
Soundman OKM2R > Sony MD MZ R70 > Magix Music Cleaning Lab > CDR> Flacs via EAC > SD > my HD > DIME > YOUR EARS AND MIND...

First of all: RED ALERT FOR YOUR SPEAKERS! THIS RECORDING HAS A HEAVY MONSTER BASS! DON'T MAKE US RESPONSIBLE FOR BLOWING THEM TO SOUND HEAVEN!

As a bit usual with all those old tapes done by my brother, dear Rendel or me: They were all taped at the sound booth, which is about app. 40 meters to the stage. Little did we know
those daze about the heavy bass "roll" at that location with you tape with in-ear mics. That's why some other recordings from stacked mics fare much better. Think I ended that practise
around 2006 or at least 2008, where I rushed into upfront area, where the sound is more suited for the OKM's. Since then, I think, at all shows both me and Rendel always did upfront
recordings with much more satisfying results. Tried to mix this up again in Audacity, but that did not really work. Maybe someone has a better programm to eliminate just the booming
bass treble here. Otherwise, I think it's a fine recording of a high energy Alvin Lee show....

Oh, yeah, I can remember I did not watch this show, as WE had a great camp with about 15-20 people that year, and my own mind was more on something like OZRIC TENTACLES or other weird
spacerock music. But we listened to it in "almost full clarity" from the campground. The first 30 minutes of this are missing, but - yeah you might want to kill me for that comment -
it was not worth listening. Some of Alvin's rather boring hardrock style songs from the 80's and early 90's. I've to admit, all get's a lot better at the time this tape switches in.
A great version of GMLS, as well as Love Like a man. The playing is - as usual - lightning fast, and it was at least a good rockin' (though it was not midnight!)set.

And - remember - it's a HOLY MOUNTAIN recording, and that's worth enough. If you ever been there, you'll NEVER STAY AWAY. NO YEAR TO FOLLOW ON AND ON AND ON...SB.
