01. Low Gear Man
02. Blues With A Feeling
03. Call My Woman
04. Double Lovin'
05. Sage of Sidney Street
Total Time ::: 28:24
::: Quite fine in quieter parts & hurtin' in louder ones but better than previous uploads. Check samples for indigestion or blues ignition factors.
::: Warts: Repaired dullspots & dropouts but surely missed a few. Loud passages suffer from distortion on all copies. Excised 1&1/2 seconds of extreme hiss from in #2 (a better splice than prev. circulating version).
::: CONTRAST CLAUSE: This is a known 2nd gen, better quality & longer version than the one at www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=368002
::: Old Scooter 123 version is AUD (NOT SBD or FM as stated), unknown gen, lesser quality, 4 trax, 21:48. This better quality UPGRADE is known 2nd gen, 5 trax, 28:24.
::: Track #5 included here was missing on previously DIMED versions of this recording.
::: DATE: I'm stickin' with August 1967 tho' it's been debated previously. More info below.
::: Sincere thanks to DIMER zubbid for his speedy response with a song title & instrumentation correction.
Recording Information ::: unknown mono equipment -> master mono audience tape -> 1st generation tape -> (1980s transfer) 2nd generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette, Dolby B on.
Playback 2011-07-16 ::: 2nd generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette on Nakamichi BX-300 cassette deck, Dolby B on, azimuth adjusted for indiviudal tape, heads cleaned & demagnatized -> Tascam CD-RW900SL professional CD recorder -> CD-RW, no track splits -> computer -> EAC secure mode (logs made) -> wav file.
Remastering 2015-12-xx ::: wav file -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset, channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch, bump, pop, click, dropout & dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, pitch seemed OK, NO equalisation] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. First uploaded week of 2016-02-13.
Line-up ::: John Moorshead - electric guitar // Victor Brox - organ, trumpet (#5 only), vocals // Alex Dmochowski - electric bass // Aynsley Dunbar - drums.
Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.
DimeTravel 270 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! ::: Corrections welcome ::: Way cool even with the distortion. Preceeds the first Retaliation album & even the first Retaliation single which didn't make it out until December 1967. Deep white boy electric blues with an incredible line-up. A great band! Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees
DATE DEBATE: According to http://www.themarqueeclub.net, the Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation only played the Marquee Club in 1967 on 1967-11-20 with Chicken Shack & 1967-12-15 with Shakey Vics Big City Blues Band. However this was traded to me many years ago with the August date as supplied to my source by the taper, so I assume the Retaliation substituted for another opening band on some night that month.
