Ayron Jones & The Way
Waterfront Blues Festival
Portland, OR.
July 5, 2014
Another year of WBF recordings. Recorded from KBOO FM in Portland, OR. A great lineup again this year. I was looking forward to Greg Allman's set, but he had to pull out due to sickness. Oh well, I wouldn't have been able to share him here anyway. Seems to be much more DJ talking this year, interrupting some music. I just left it in rather than trying to edit each show. Feel free to make any changes you wish for personal use.
I may need help with some of the set list's as I don't know all the bands.
Enjoy, twofthrs

Seattle singer-songwriter Ayron Jones is one of Seattle's hottest up-and-comers with his own brand of music dubbed, "urban rock," a hard-core version of the blues with the essence of Hip-Hop and the raw energy of punk, drizzled with that famous Seattle sound. Think, Stevie Ray Vaughan meets Nirvana. Opening recently for BB King in Seattle, Ayron received a standing ovation.
In 2010 guitarist Ayron Jones started Ayron Jones and The Way. A three-piece blues rock band that included drummer, Conrad Real and bassist, DeAndre Enrico. The young group immediately began turning heads and quickly found themselves opening for legends like Robert Cray, and rising star Lukas Nelson.
By the Summer of 2012, AJ and The Way were beginning to make an impact on Seattle's music scene after becoming the regional champions of the popular Hard Rock Rising contest, a worldwide battle of the bands. The band would go on to place 30th out of over 12,000 bands, but also grabbed the attention of the local media and more importantly, Seattle Hip-Hop icon and Grammy award-winning rapper, Sir Mix A-Lot. After seeing the band perform live, Mix A-Lot approached the band and offered to produce their album. The group accepted the offer and they immediately began recording.
In 2013, the band replaced drummer Conrad Real, with the talent and experience of Kai Van De Pitte out of Portland, Oregon. Van De Pitte brought a metal background with him as a drummer, giving the band that nasty edge they had been looking for. The band was invited to perform at premier music festivals such as Bumbershoot, Mt. Baker Rhythm and Blues Festival and Summer Meltdown resulting in tremendous buzz and momentum leading up to the Fall release of their debut album, Dream. Though the release was met with rave reviews from Seattle media, it was the sold-out album release show on November 2, 2013 (with Sir Mix-a-Lot and Tomeka Williams opening) where Jones made the biggest statement with a performance the Seattle Times says, "Elevated himself into the conversation on Seattle rock royalty..."
