I'm always excited when I pull in some new/old B.B. King., esp., from a master tape !!

Oddly, this new recording creates a whole new list of mysteries that I haven't been able to solve, (more on this topic below).

The only unfortunate aspect of this tape, is that we're missing the opening instrumentals by BB's blues band.
(which I always believed were a very important part of BB's show, for it really showcases the individual players.)

This tape starts in progress just as BB is about to walk out on stage.

During track 8, "BB dialogue" (you can hear the sounds of crickets and some geese flying overhead.) This is clearly an outdoor venue.

After the last song, the tape runs out and we are missing the final minutes during the outro.

Considering that this was recorded on a hand held Aiwa walkman, the quality is decent and well worth having in your collection.

I want to thank R.D. for loaning me his master tapes to transfer.

When this June 28, 1985 Audience tape arrived, I immediately assumed it was going to be an audience version of the FM broadcast.

Once I had it transferred and had a chance to listen to it, it became immediately apparent that it was a completely different show.

The month of June 1985 is a complete mystery and there are no other dates to reference, other than June 19 at Red Rocks.

The other (now suspect) date from either July 2 or 4, Saratoga, CA FM broadcast, has absolutely no connection to this June 28 Saratoga audience tape.

I originally uploaded my Saratoga FM version on Dime back in 2012, which I had then dated as July 4.

I later found a tour advertisement that indicated BB started his UK tour on July 4 in Cardiff, Wales.

Also noted during the FM tape, BB is quoted as saying "The band is going to fly to Europe, the day after tomorrow".

So I tentatively moved back the date of the FM tape to July 1 or 2. Giving BB a few days buffer between tours. (that seemed to make more sense).

Then this new audience tape comes out of the woodwork dated June 28, which seemed impossible to me, because .....

My tour list had BB on the East Coast during that week. I had no previous knowledge of there being another Saratoga Winery show.

After adjusting and correcting the tour list, there still leaves the question...

"Were there really 2 shows in Saratoga, California in 1985 and if so, what is the proper date for the Saratoga FM tape?"

I have spent several days trying to pull in more tour information for this time frame. I haven't been able to discover anymore dates to fill in the missing dates.

I'm extremely happy to have found this new BB recording, though it just shows me that I still have more work to do and that the information must be out there somewhere.

If anyone has any personal knowledge of any tour dates from BB King during this time frame May-June of 1985, please get in touch with me.

I really need to find newspaper advertisements, posters and/or ticket stubs.
