Back Door Slam
Waterfront Blues Festival
Portland, OR.
July 5, 2008

Recorded from KBOO FM. An all volunteer radio station in Portland. FM>HD>FLAC>Dime or at times FM>H2 ZOOM>HD>FLAC>Dime. As always there are some bumps in the road, but nothing that would stop me from down loading these shows. I've tried to fix all the drops and pauses in the music. Enjoy the festival, twofthrs

"A guitar god in training" – LOS ANGELES TIMES

"I heard the spirit of Jimi Hendrix…It was a group called Back Door Slam" – SEATTLE TIMES

"Back door Slam has a fury and a passion that recall Hendrix and Howlin' Wolf, music of power and dexterity that continues to inspire those pesky youths inclined to jam." – DALLAS OBSERVER

Back Door Slam are teenagers Davy Knowles (guitars, vocal, mandolin, lap steel), Ross Doyle (drums) and Adam Jones (bass), all hailing from Britain's Isle of Man.

Brought up on a potentially overindulgent appetite of Everything Blues, they're now using their precocious talents to create their own mindblowing brand of contemporary/traditional blues-rock. The result is a sound reminiscent of the greats (BB King, Howlin Wolf, Jimi Hendrix, SRV) but with a big nod to the modern music and songwriters they all share a love of (Clapton, Knopfler, Mayall, Mayer). Their recent debut, Roll Away, cracked the top on the Billboard blues charts in February, and has gotten heavy airplay on KINK-fm, among others since. Their Waterfront Blues Festival debut is part of an impressive US tour that includes stops at the massive Bonnaroo rock festival in Tennessee, Wakarusa in Kansas, Austin's South by Southwest, Memphis' Beale Street Festival, and a stop at CBS' Early Show this spring.
