A big thank you to Mr. Galli himself who sent it to me as part of a trade. Much obliged!!

A conspiracy between Alien156 and HermanLR...........

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alien did some editing and these are his remarks:

Here's another beauty by Herman, I've just taken the liberty to write
some liner notes. Short but SO SWEET. I have been thinking about
working on the sound but everything I try makes things worse in other
places. If anyone can get that annoying high end buzz on the cymbals
out, without hurting the sound of this.. PLEASE do and repost. For
example... the first seconds of track 4. Added a few fades where
appropriate to take out a few nasty cuts, no music was harmed there.

This is a recording of the 1993 Bay Area Music Awards, more familiarly
known as the "Bammies". Carlos Santana is presented the award for
Musician Of The Year.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Herman's notes:

BAM (Bay Area Music), was a free bi-weekly music magazine founded and published by Dennis Erokan
in the San Francisco Bay Area starting in January 1976 and continuing on for 23 years until 1999.
Beginning in 1978 and continuing until the magazine ceased publication in 1999,
BAM magazine presented the Bammy Awards, also known as the Bammies, in an annual awards ceremony
honoring accomplishments of the Bay Area music community

Santana, coming from that very Bay Area, received quite a lot Bammies during that period. Till 1997 Carlos
(with or without band), was present at almost every occasion, often perfroming.
The 1993 show was quite a special one, since there was a guest appearance of Kirk Hammett of Metallica.
Some very recognizable guitar parts by the Metallica axeman!

The first track is a Willie Dixon song. Talking about roots!!

By the way, more Bammy ceremonies are special because of the guests Santana persuaded to go on stage:

88 with Pharoah Sanders and Tony Williams
89 with John Lee Hooker, the Caribbean Allstars, Pharoah Sanders and Tony Williams
90 with Tramaine Hawkins, John Lee Hooker, Robert Cray, John Fogerty and Neil Young
91 with Tramaine Hawkins and the Caribbean Allstars
97 with Tommy Castro, Rob Wasserman and Bob Weir
