Bob Harris is joined tonight by Canadian folk country trio The Be Good Tanyas, whose much-anticipated new album is released this week.

Sam Parton, Frazey Ford and Trish Klein make up The Be Good Tanyas. Their music has been described as everything from Goth folk and nu-grass to avant jazz. They first met in British Columbia, Canada, at a tree-planting camp singing old spirituals and prison work songs from sun-up to sundown while planting trees has had a marked influence on Frazey's vocal style.

After meeting Texan-born singer and fiddler Jolie Holland, the three friends were introduced to musician/traveller Obo Martin and took their name from his rebel anthem Be Good Tanya. Together they started playing in cafes, galleries and bars in Vancouver and in 2000 they toured across the USA in Sam's 1977 Dodge van and, following Jolie's departure from the group, recorded their debut album, "Blue Horse".

The band soon gained a strong following in the UK, and they start a national tour here next month.
