Day 2 of my Ben and Charlie run. I wished I could have done all four but work deadlines
and other musical adventures got in the way. I had a lazy relaxing day and took Uber to
the Belly Up around 4. Met up with the other guys from the FRIC group waiting on line.
We hoped to get in for soundcheck but it was not meant to be. Doors opened an hour earlier
but the show started only 15 minutes earlier. I had another great group of people around me
and aside from some talkers behind me the crowd noice on the recording is that of an excited
and respectful crowd. Can't ask for more. A very similar set to night one but Ben was
more relaxed and we got some funny anecdotes. The performance was at least as good as the
first night but also quite different. The sound was dialed in again and the show seemed
to go by way too fast. Before I knew it they were playing When The Levee Breaks again. The
encore had one more song and was a different order ending with Charlie singing Long Legged
Woman. Hopefully a few other tapers will get out for this tour. These shows have been great
and while my favorite Ben Harper band is the Innocent Criminals, this is a very close second.
