Pete Long, formerly of Jools Hollands Orchestra and now leader of Ronnie Scotts Big Band, takes on the role of Benny Goodman in a complete recreation of his 1938 appearance at New Yorks Carnegie Hall.
Goodman, who then the most prominent swing bandleader in America, included numbers such as Sing Sing Sing, Gene Krupas drum spectacular and Harry Jamess Life Goes To A Party.
The concert was a defining moment of the swing era and was recorded onto acetate. The recordings were released in 1950 by Columbia and sold over a million copies.
