Big Al Downing
1981-xx-xx
Pasadena, TX
Live from Gilley's 81-23

Here's an artist I'm not familiar with except this early Gilley's show.
Al Downing was one of the few Black artists with some success in Country music.
He performed R&B and disco before being signed to Warner Brothers as a Country artist.
He was influenced by Fats Domino, who recorded two of Downing's songs.
He was in the Poe Kats, who backed Wanda Jackson. He died in 2005.

My favorites on here are the story songs: "The Story Behind The Story" and "Mr. Jones."

Vinyl to Roxio Audio Capture, and edited with Sound Forge to WAV, and to FLAC with Trader's Little Helper.

It is more blessed to give than to receive.
