A very nice recording of Big Mama Thornton and the Big Mama Thornton Blues Band. Part of a week-long music festival of some sort.

Dick Waterman introduced the band. Waterman was deeply involved in the mid-1960's blues "revival" centered in Cambridge, Mass., and was a photographer and promoter of blues musicians. Peter Malick was the guitarist for the James Montgomery Band, playing as a guest. The WBCN announcers were Max(anne Sartori?) and Bob.

The recording is solid but suffered from a lot of FM crackle. Most of it has been eliminated using the Izotope de-crackle plugin. In the dead air between songs, you may still hear a little bit, and in other, quieter passages. A couple of larger pops were removed or minimized as well, but you will still find some warts.

Big Mama Thornton - vocals
"Slow Hands" Cayo - piano
Bob Mason - drums
Ken Paulson - rhythm guitar
Ted Perkins - bass
Peter Malick - lead guitar
George Smith - harmonica

Enjoy!
