comments:
Another nice 79 Bruford aud. This is my longest 79 show
(partly because they did 2 shows the night before in Boston,
adding the second by popular demand.) The taper did a good job
here, tried to rewind after Joe Frazier with about 38 min.
recorded on a 45 min. side of cassette, and missed the first
few notes of track 7 (travels with myself) and like most of
these shows, the 1st few seconds of Hell's Bells. The rest is
here and it's another fine show. Even though the sets don't
vary much in 79 BBB shows, the music does. Apparently 2 sets
the night before didn't wear them out at all, still plenty
of gas left in the tank for this one. Most of these songs
were released (in their studio forms) on Feels Good to Me,
Bill's 1st album as his own drummer. There was a band very
briefly before this one in 1978, simply called "Bruford"
but I don't think they ever recorded any released material.
This was Bill's 1st regular tour of duty as bandleader, a
very good time in his professional career after listening to
people like Robert Fripp, Jon Anderson and Allan Holdsworth
telling him what to do, it must have felt good to Bruford
to march to his beat instead of somebody else's. It sure
felt good to those who got to see and/or hear it. The 2 Boston
79 shows will be coming, 1980 early show is already up and if
you don't have that yet, get it. None of my other Bruford auds
can compare to that one. But they are all good sound quality.
I don't know who taped this one but they did a good job with it,
I think most who like Bill Bruford will enjoy the sound and music
here too.
do not sell this recording.
Trade freely and losslessly.
