1993
Mono Soundboard Tracks 1-8 (Possible Aud. Tapes, Track 8)
Quality: B+.
Genre: West Coast Rock
Lineage: Cassette > Spin It Again Digital Conversion > Conversion to Flac by Media Monkey
Notes:
This is Bill Champlin, the leader of the SF area 70's group
"The Sons of Champlin". He went solo after his two, thats
right two, Grammies for writing "After the Love is Gone" for
Earth Wind and Fire and "Turn Your Love Around" for George Benson.
He currently plays for the band Chicago and did some Sons reunion
gigs the past couple years here in California.
This tape was an old fashioned trade for an aged cassette in a box
labeled Bill Champlin on Television 1993. The cassette also
reflects the name the Alan Twickle Show whom I've never heard
of. This could be European, as Bill did a European swing in 1993,
including a concert in Sweden. The fade outs and lack of English banter
suggest to me that it is in foreign country, well foreign to Bill at
least. The two highlights of the tape are the first verion of "Turn
Your Love Around" and you can hear how it is supposed to sound by the
writer; and Track 8 Instrumental which really rocks. Of course, the
old Sons song, "Hold On" is a favorite of Bills, even in his short
lived solo career.
This tape is new to me, and for someone who supposedly has every Sons
and BC concert, this came as a surprise to me. If anyone knows
the lineage of these tracks, I'd appreciate it. As
usual, I'm always up for a SOC or Bill Champlin trade.
