Lineage: Church audio CA-14's [clipped to glasses]> Ugly Battery Box> Roland R-05 w/ 100 Hz low cut filter >SDHC [10 class] recorded at 24 bit-48k > Sound Forge [remove inaudible frequencies below 20 Hz, applied soft limiter, Raised level 2 db and maximized peak to Odb, converted wav to 16-44.1k. Tracks created in Audacity. FLAC level 8 [ASB] and checksum created in Traders Little Helper.

Recorded from the center section seats, 30' from the stage, dead center, just in front of the mixing desk. The bass heavy sound needed taming on the recording, which I addressed in Sound Forge. There is still plenty of low end, just less mud. The lower frequencies were notched @ 120 Hz to 360 Hz, cut 1-3 db. Slight increase in mids and 1 db boost at 12k for air, to bring out the instruments.

Capacity crowd at the recently renovated Variety Playhouse. People started filtering in during A Place To Bury Stranger's set [also recorded]. The Black Angels performed songs from their just released Death Song plus selections from their back catalog. Highly visual light projection with constant stream of shifting color and patterns, with different effects for the various songs. Very cool effect; some pictures from my vantage point are included, using my Droid.
