Well, here I am in the wee hours of the morning (as usual) perusing the musical landscape. Hey, I ain't goin' nowhere - think I'll build my own little ass-kickin' party band. They'd need to have the funk and soul of James Brown, some tasty guitar like Buddy Guy, the nasty grit of Howlin' Wolf, and let's throw in the Texas style of Hound Dog Taylor and make their hometown Austin just for a little spice. Well whaddaya know - this band already exists. It's Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears! The band's already invented but not their genre so I'll step forward and put these fellers in the "Funk-Soul-Blues 'N Roll" section of the record store. If that description don't gitcha perked up you need to abandon all musical interest and invest yo time in mastering chisenbop. Black Joe likes to get a little dirty ("We got a lot of songs about booty for all you ass fans") as any good party band should. Put this one on repeat and your gathering is guaranteed to cook fo hours. I think my avatar pretty much sums up what you'd look and feel like after a night with these guys - and who in their right mind wouldn't want that? If Black Joe & the Honeybears are ever playing anywhere near you GO SEE THEM! They carry the Uncle D guarantee - in triplicate. That doesn't happen every day, mind you. Y'all enjoy!
