comments:
since the album "eat to the beat" was recorded between May and June of 1979,
the music of it was REALLY new to them at this time, and they only played
one song from that record (dreaming) in this concert, so this is more of a
later "Parallel Lines" tour show than one for Blondie's then newest 4th album.
not much difference between this and Pawtucket R.I. July 5, 1979 torrent
except a few more people, more crowd noise and maybe a few different songs,
mostly the same ones. This isn't quite as close up but still quite
enjoyable, just about the same length, recorded by the same person with
the same deck and mikes. I noticed someone's trying to get my Pawtucket
show which I first posted w/partial setlist, much like this one.
Some are quite special, I wouldn't say this one is a "special" Blondie
performance, but it's a good one, before they got hit by the atomic bomb
(no offense to those who like that album, I think it's one of the biggest
disappointment albums ever released.) This tour still sounded like Blondie
and Debbie still sounds very much like only Debbie Harry does in this group.
There's a little tape noise, and the copy I got was before I had a Naka.
so it was not an "ideal" transfer to my 1st gen. tape, probably Sony to Sony
for both of these 79 auds I've got, but not bad, no obvious problems that
I could find. I have no idea where the guy with these masters is now, if
I ever find out I may try to get a from master transfer, until that happens,
if it ever does, this is about as good as either of them will be heard, and
they both sound pretty (baby) decent. I think the Pawtucket one is a little
clearer because of less crowd noise, maybe less crowd to make noise. I think
this is the next show Blondie played in Boston after the 11/78 Paradise broadcast
with the released Bang a Gong encore. They didn't do that song in this show.
this is likely the last theater stop for Blondie (I'm guessing their Atomic
Bomb tour was at Boston Garden). I don't care much for 80's Blondie, but they
were a good time live in the 70's, until they found out like so many of us that
this world isn't quite as round as we thought it was.
