This is probably close to the ENTIRE concert. Track 01
cuts in and I think that the rest of the concert is here
in its entirety. If you know ANYTHING about this show
(were you there ? do you have an entire setlist ?)
PLEASE post a response !
What can you say about Blue Cheer? The progenitors of heavy metal
before the phrase was even coined, a powerhouse power trio whose
music defined the term psychedelic, a band so loud that it could be
heard three miles away when playing at outside venues ! Dickie Peterson,
Leigh Stephens and Paul Whaley were like gods to me in 1968, when I
listened to them in 8th grade. In music class, we had a kind of
show-and-tell where each of us brought in our favorite music and played
selections for all of our little friends. After I played 3 Blue Cheer cuts on
the high-grade stereo, my classmates looked at me like I was crazy. I
suppose, in the parlance of the time, that I had "blown their minds". Well,
it's 41 years later and a lot of blown minds are still wandering around,
so let me tell you as much as I can about this recording.
I got this tape in trade at least 17 years ago from a good taper
friend of mine. I was NOT at this show so I can't tell you anything
about that but what little I DO know about this tape is as follows:
there's no distortion, no flutter or "warbling" that I can hear,
no speed problems or fluctuations but there is some hiss. This show
sounds better when listened to through headphones but it sounds pretty
good through regular speakers. Vocals are very clear as are the
instruments. The guitar is initially in the \n
ground but gets moved
into the foreground as time progresses. This is NOT a balanced soundboard.
I WILL put up a sample for those of you who may be reticent about
downloading this. This is ALL I know about the history of this tape.
If you have a better sounding copy of this concert, by all means
post it ! If you have the entire show, for God's sake POST IT !!!
Thanks a lot. Feel free to post your opinions of this show, win,
lose or draw. I'm just trying to pay \n
the great trading
community here. Thank God for the mighty Dime !!!
Finally, please don't buy, sell or convert this show to mp3 or any
other lossy format. Please seed this as long as you can. Please trade
this freely as this show MIGHT be fairly uncirculated. This concert will
be a welcome addition to any Blue Cheer fan's collection. If you have ANY
Blue Cheer shows, especially the 2006-2007 shows, please post them even if
you think that they sound crappy. Remember, beauty and sound quality is
in the eye and ear of the beholder. Enjoy the show...
