This torrent includes 3 photos of Newspaper review articles that i had in a scrapbook.
This place was a mob scene and the casino floor around the Wolf Den was packed to the hilt. I showed up probably 30 minutes before show time and there has never been a crowd this huge before. Easily over 3,000 extra people crammed in like sardines just to get a glimpse. I had no idea there was a buzz going around days prior that there were going to be some special rare guests. So when i showed up i thought what the heck are all these people here for. I would soon learn why. Needless to say I couldn't get anywhere near my usual taping locations. I was stuck very far back only being able to see the stage by looking around peoples heads or watching the distant video screen. I had the gaming tables to my back, with the slot machines in front of me. No where near the PA system. People who have been to the Wolf Den know what i mean.
Since i was so far away, considering the quality, my recording is mostly for collectors that have a curiousity and an interest for such an event. There are no other known live recordings from any 2002 shows to surface. This is the only one. I've spent the last 2 days going over and over this tape, trying to make it the best i could. Fortuantely the crowd around me is rather quiet, But the hand claps were peaking on the meter and sometimes clipping, so i painstakingly selected hundreds of hand claps and lowered them by 6 decibels. This allowed me to raise the volume of the entire concert 3 decibels, bringing out the music a bit more. I also minimized most of the whistles. I'm just not a fan of extra noise on my tapes and in this case i did everything i could to eliminate the people around me. NO EQ'ing (ever)
After my intitial surprise of seeing Former President Bill Clinton and watching him play his saxophone. It thought that was going to be the only highlight, but i was wrong. To my surprise out comes Chevy Chase (you know that actor from Caddyshack and National Lampoon Movies) Followed by Aerosmith's Steven Tyler. You can hear how completely surprised i was when Tyler came out. As I yell out "Holy Sh!T" !! I had yet to ever see him in person before. They also bring out Sam Moore and introduce Paul Shaffer also. Overall The Blues Brothers show was very entertaining, so once your ears adjust... it's okay? kinda...
I've been waiting 10 years to find a better source. None have surfaced. I can't believe with a few thousand people in attendance, that i was the only taper. I hope not.
Here's some notes:
The vocals are somewhat difficult to understand. though the drums seem to come through the best.
Bill Clinton is introduced during Track 09 @ 2:24 mark and then plays his saxophone in the rythm section during track 10
Bill Clinton plays a solo part during track 13 @ the 4:00 min mark. ( I don't know what this song is called )
Chevy Chase comes out onstage during Track 15 @ the 3:10 min mark.
Steven Tyler comes out onstage during Track 15 @ the 3:38 min mark.
I've added audio samples to the 3 tracks i don't know the titles too. Maybe someone can figure those out and chime in with the titles.
