I planned a buisiness trip around seeing The New Old Cavalry here, and Blunt Honey was the opening band. Turns out they are somewhat of a house band playing The Monkey Wrench every Tuesday night. Thay had a bit of a large local following as you will hear. This was their last Tuesday as the house band, so the crowd was particulalry roudy. So roudy, in fact, a girl had to be taken to the hospital with a dislocated shoulder from dancing. You can hear it all unfold in the recording from the crowd banter. Oh, and the music: My understanding was that this was not the typical lineup for the band. I gathered that one of the members may have been in the hospital. A female singer sang harmony with two other guys that traded off on lead vocals. These two guys also traded off playing an acoustic guitar, a banjo and a mandolin. A fourth member, who isn't part of the normal lineup, played stand-up bass. Their music was a blend of bluegrass, folk and rock and was very entertaining. Enjoy this one!
