The December Tape was part of the 1st ever Bootleg released as a Double vinyl LP Great White Wonder back in 1969. A statement from Columbia Records at the time said:-
"We consider the release of this record as an abuse of the integrity of a great artist. By releasing material without the knowledge or approval of Bob Dylan or Columbia Records, the sellers of this record are crassly depriving a great artist of the opportunity to perfect his performance to the point where he believes in their integrity and validity. They are at one time defaming the artist and defrauding his admirers. For these reasons, Columbia Records in cooperation with Bob Dylan's attorneys intends to take all legal steps to stop the distribution and sale of this album." that achieved a lot!!!
The difference in performance in the young Bob in just the space of a few months is like chalk and cheese. The May tape shows a young man finding his feet in the music industry less confident and with a limited repertoire whilst the December Tape shows the transformation from a fresh faced kid with a guitar to a honed Folk Singer ready to startle the world.
The original torent wa s banned due to the inclusion of smapled tracks on Highway 61 Interactive the offending tracks have been removed and the info file checked by the "Dylan Mod" so hopefully thereb should be no problems with the torrent offending Dime rules.
Other than the 8 removed tracks I am not aware of any other tracks being released on official albums
This is a must have for any Dylan fan.
