Bob Dylan at Blue Hills Pavilion, Boston, MA, July 14, 2016, audience recording.

H2 lined into computer by USB, wav sent to Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 12. Magix program was used for track markings, and volume increase. Flac created with Trader's Little Helper, SBE and torrent work also done with TLH.

I'd rate the sound quality on this a probable A-. You can hear heavy winds throughout, and I accidentally recorded the first three songs on the medium mic gain setting, where I usually would opt for low mic gain. It doesn't suffer for it, though. I was about ten rows behind the soundboard, towards the back of the big tent. The people around me were mostly pretty quiet. The biggest downside is the wind. I was also having an issue with my recorder (display light wasn't coming on), so the first set begins when the first song is in progress, and I'm heading to my seat. The second set starts a little late, but not much music is missing - just some intro pre-song noodling. Another slight downside, is that my friend Jim and I smoked a joint during "Spirit On The Water" and "Scarlet Town", and my friend Jim can be heard to cough a few times. Usually, I wouldn't even mention it, but this show was pretty quiet, and it's pretty audible, what we were up to. My suggestion to the listener is to light one up at that point in the show, and hang with us for a few. Finally, as stated above, the first three songs were recorded on the medium mic gain setting. When I noticed, I waited until the song was over, then switched it down to the low mic gain setting. So, when I did the transfer, I left the first three songs at the level they transferred at, and increased the volume for the remainder of the show.

I would like to say the taping gods are cool. I bicycled from the train station to this event, and saw that they were using detector wands. I rode around, freaking out about where I was going to stash my recorder, and then I had a good idea. I went over to the search guys and asked if I could bring "this" (Zoom H2) in. The guys said "what is it", I said a recorder, and they said "make sure you come through this way, and we'll make sure you get in". One of them related to me how he also used to record every show he attended. I also shared that story on the Mavis Staples torrent I posted from this same show.

One notable thing about the show, was that no photography was allowed, and that includes cell-phones. So I made the decision to be a good boy, until I was sure the show was just about over. Now, I'd been sitting in my seat, smoking, openly recording, and nobody gave us any shit. As soon as I snapped the photo, security came right over and told me to put it away. I will not be including the photo, because it's not that impressive, and I'm sure the mods would prefer it that way, with Dylan's view on photography.

Don't sell, try not to circulate as lossy. Enjoy!
