notes:
-another from my archives, this is one of Wes' master recordings I am sure. Wes used to get a table as close as possible and just put the Aiwa right
on it and use the internal mics - he was not a quality buff at all - was happy if he could just listen to it 1-3 more times again and likely never
again - luckily a friend and me used to make copies. I used to be picky with his stuff because the sound just wasn't that great, but this is still
listenable to: in the "B" range - it's just low-quality Aiwa shit with some issues for sure: 1st off the master was saturated on the levels, so
there's distortion at times, even some static bursts. Sounds a bit flat too.
-there's not many Bob Moses live recordings out there so I thought this was a good one to share. This was a unique project of African jazz - quite
interesting. The band is quite good with Rogers and Chapin blowing notes over heavy percussion/rhythms and Brian Katt (?) vibing hard. Philip adds
some African chanting/vocals. Miss the titles on Tracks 4 & 5, which are the same tune with a cassette flip dividing them, and Track 8, which is
a Count Basie tune and most likely last tune of set - it cuts due to end of tape - because Wes stops the tape during some of Bob's comments to save
space for music. I'm also not clear on the names of the 3 band members with question marks - Bob announces them, but Brian & Billy's last names may
be off and the keyboardist, "a Persian" Bob calls him, is a guess completely. Think I got other titles to tunes right. Any help/corrections appreciated.
