Taper's Comments:

1 - HELP!! If you have any uncirculated SPIRIT shows, or better quality FM
broadcasts than what's been posted here before, please share them. If you
know anybody who has shows that fit this category that aren't on DIME, please
dub off their stuff and share it. I'm trying to write a book on SPIRIT and need
all the information I can get. I have a database of over 1500 gigs 1967-1996, and
want to find as much information as I can to add to it. If you have any memories
of where you saw SPIRIT, the more specific the better (venue, city, date, supporting
bands, etc.), I'd love to know that as well. Please leave that in the comments
section or PM me. Thank you!

2 - Show description & comments follow:

There's not much more that I hate more than large venues, and Merriweather Post
Pavilion was certainly at the top of my list as one of the more loathsome venues
I ever attended. Despite their claims to the contrary, the sound sucked. If you were
close, you were blown away, and further back it sucked. On the lawn, forget it. In
the few times I attended this hole, I always paid the money to sit in the Pavilion. It
used to be a little more mellow, but in the late 70's, an outfit called Nederlander took
over running the place. Surly security guards, no blankets, no umbrellas, no food or
drink, no nothing, and no fun allowed!

A great show by Bob Seger during his prime years. It was very loud, but my tape sounds
better than what I heard that night. During "Ramblin' Gamblin" Man", I had to move to let
somebody pass by in my aisle, and in the process, my recorder somehow stopped. Luckily it
happened during a guitar solo, and there's so little missing, that you may not notice it.
I had a good seat in the Center Section, Row N, Seat 125. I remember during one section
of the show, four roadies carried a small platform through the audience with Alto Reed
on top wailing on saxophone! Tickets were the outrageous price of a whole $9.50!!! Try
that today! It was the last time I ever endured "Merriweather Post Pavilion", and I don't
miss the hole! Enjoy!
