The Superwolves:

The pros: I had a perfect, uninterrupted line of sight to the PA with no audience in between or around me, and a nice solid table to set my recorder on where I could leave it untouched, so for the most part I got a clear capture of the stage & PA sound, pretty good for an outdoor low-volume show!

The cons: I missed the first few seconds of the first song due to fumble fingers with the record button. There was some distracting wind noise and occasional mic bumps intermittently in the first half of the show and then pretty consistently for the last 25 minutes, so from "A Beast For Thee" onwards, the recording is in mono using only the left channel which got less of a direct hit from the very mild breeze, along with an application of high-pass filter and low-end limiting to minimize the impact.

Elsewhere in the show I used brief targeted interventions to eliminate bumps and wind noise. I applied limiting to the clapping sections and brought up the volume overall but avoided applying compression or EQ to the portions of the recording not requiring intervention. So I've tried to make the best out of a flawed recording. Who knows if there will even be any other tapes from this brief tour?
