This appears to be an uncirculated show from the Uptown Lonestar.
Sharing a first generation cassette version that sounds very good.
Especially the Late Set when I moved down to the Floor Level. Was seated
about 30 Feet away from Croppers Amp. Of course Duck Dunn and his
everpresent bass. Tape has a really nice balance of all the instruments.
Slight distortion at times when the sound pressure builds suddenly.
Using the CR1600, not my trusty old CR240AV, on this gig. Primary difference is
the 1600 does not have the same mic preamps as 240AV, and is less forgiving with
sudden changes in sound pressure. The CR1600 still has the Uher signature rich
Bass response. The first set is from the balcony, the sound quality is great,
but different from the later set on the floor. One occasional flaw in the first
set is another person tapping on the rail of the balcony with a ring on their hand.
It's an intermittent audible thing that is not throughout any one song but shows up
in three or four places, like the very beginning of first song of early set.
This is a really great performance from three of the Original Band members.
The Master Tapes are no longer in my posession. They likely will not
be transferred to Digital Audio, either.
Things being what they are (20 years later) it's time to share the closest copy
there is of 01.21.1993 from this incredible group.
Remastered on April 3, 2013. Cassette played back on Tascam 122MKIII >
Studer 169 (rolled off Bass at 75hz and a little equalization from channel strip) >
Black Lion 002 Rack > PT 10 @ 24.96 NO PLUG INS > Bounced to 16/44.1 as .wav >
Switch Sound File Converter V. 4.0 > TLH > Torrent
This is pretty much the cassette played back just as it is with very little manipulation digitally.
All equalization is in the pre-digital phase of the process. Once the signal is in the box
it goes on two mono tracks one for track one (left) and one for track two (right). Those are
bounced to Stereo and converted to 16 bit 44.1k.
There is no compression other than what is part of the file conversion process.
