comments:
from a national broadcast touring the band's 4th album, "mondo bongo"
this was posted together with Boston 1980 show, apparently that was not
to the mods' liking and it was banned for that reason, but there was as
I had expected, no released-content ban notice with any of it so just as
asked to do in my ban notice, I'm posting both seperately. I agree it
is probably better to post it this way. (in case some already have one).
Apparently that was the only thing wrong with this previous posting,
sorry for the inconvenience there. But I will mention that both this
and my Boston 1980 post will fit on 2 CD's. It does seem better this way, and
in future I will only post multiple shows in same torrent that happen as
part of the same concert, like "A Night at the Hynes" 1/15/78, (which these
two are not). It would seem the mods made a good point there.
This was a bit poppier set than the Boston one, I only noticed 2 songs
duplicated in the 2 shows (even though no new album since Boston show).
My favorite song in here is "up all night", a soundtrack for many dimers
and at least some of our modulars. I don't know how much the broadcast
missed, the band said they'd do a couple of songs after the radio show.
This is the complete broadcast over WBCN FM.
this is a little bit poppier in parts than Boston (not in a bad way) and also sounding
a little like XTC in parts (nothing wrong with that either), not a full concert but
almost full broadcast. They only covered about an hour of it. Bob talks about gun laws
in this show after a senseless shooting had left several innocent people dead, not sure
which one, this kind of thing is a far too common occurrence in the U.S.A. and it is both
shocking and very revealing to Geldof's wisdom and intelligence that what he said 28 years
ago could still sound so relevant to right now, almost as if these concerts were from 2007
and 2008. Bob Geldof is one of music's great contributors, on and off the stage. He even
has something in common with John Abercrombie. (He's timeless, even if he's never played
that song, it has no vocals and Bob likes to sing, does so quite well in here too.)
It is about time I share some of his wisdom and artistic creativity with the dime.
I never knew, or forgot fast, that the BTR's do "up all night", and it sounds good in here.
That's not what I thought sounds like a Boomtown Rats song but I like it.)
Do not sell these recordings.
Trade freely and losslessly.
Some folks may not give a rat's a** about anything.
But these guys do bigtime. (especially Bob).
I tried to give you rats in the cellar, but a few of the rats got lost.
Now I've simplified my strategy, leave the cellar in the cellar this time.
Now I just give you rats.
