This is my first Roxy recording and means alot to me. Although done on a cheap panasonic deck and my bullet proof condenser mic, what it lacks in quality it makes up for in atmosphere. I used to make a copy of this and listen to it until the tape was worn out, then make another.

I started recording concerts in 1977. My first was ELP at Long Beach Arena August 1977. I went the first night and they announced "Thank you to LBPD for no searches on your way in tonight" so I came back the last night with a cheap panasonic recorder. I mainly recorded shows just to refresh my memory and to have something to listen to on the way home, no idea they would be heard over 30 years later.
I quickly realized that it was the rarity of the recording that was important as more people around the world wanted to trade for hard to find shows.

In looking for upgrades there are now far better recordings of some of my shows from other decks, The internet made upgrades possible for almost everything, but I still find many releases (not all) were made from bad copies of my tapes, so I have tried to find them and do new analog/digital transfer from the masters. Of my earliest recordings (worth releasing), this is TAPE #1.

I'm not sure if this 77 recording has ever been circulated before, this is from the masters and done for the joy of it, by the person that recorded it.
I also did the artwork, and as a kid that flunked out of 7th grade art class, it is a real pleasure. I have learned to use GIMP from making these covers and they do seem to come together by themselves with my aid.

Enjoy
