I think Brian Auger probably needs no extended introduction here. He was a master at the Hammond B-3 and Fender Rhodes,
and the leader of this British jazzy band. His high water mark may be his version of Gene McDaniels' "Compared to What," which
remains, in my judgment, one of the greatest B-3 songs/solos ever, including anything by such organ greats such as Jimmie
Smith, Joey DeFrancesco, Don Patterson, Larry Young, Alan Price, or Bill Champlin.
This concert was taped at the C.O.D., a local bar in Iowa City for two nights. Of particular note, I want to single out "Thumpin'
on Sunset," a Wes Montgomery song, which Brian Auger does as a slow dreamy organ instrumental with Auger also playing a
synthesizer to emulate strings. It has a slight hickup with a tape flip, but check it out.
