Bruce Cockburn - Solo
Ottawa, Ontario
Le Hibou Coffeeshop
1971 - exact date unknown
CBC FM Broadcast

lineage unknown as I received this in a trade.

A real rarity as this is the earliest known recording of Bruce and it's FM! The liner notes received with the CD:

This is one of the earliest known CBC recordings of Bruce Cockburn. The recording takes place at Le Hibou coffee
house in his hometown of Ottawa in 1971. He was 26 years old at the time and certainly a familiar face to any
regular patrons of Le Hibou. He had been performing there as far back as 1966, when his band The Children took up
a Sunday and Monday evening residency at the club.

1971 would prove to be a busy year for Bruce. At the time of this performance he had recently released his second
album for True North records, High Winds White Sky, and before the year was over he would return to the studio to
record his third release, Sunwheel Dance. He would also make an appearance that summer at the Mariposa Folk Festival
and take home what would be the first of many Juno awards for Canadian Folk Singer of the Year.

Setlist:

1. Together Alone
2. High Winds White Sky
3. Going To The Country
4. Foxglove
5. Shining Mountain
6. Spring Song
7. Happy Good Morning Blues

A short set at 26:20, but wonderful in the sound quality and several live renditions of songs not heard elsewhere
or until much later.

Enjoy!
