INFO FROM BRUCEBASE:

The above-mentioned 16 song setlist is the complete performance and is culled from an audience tape of average quality that runs fast. The tape is available on CDR as "The Complete
Lenox".This show includes a couple of rarities. One of only two known renditions of Gimme That Wine (previously played on March 10th 1974) and secondly, the first circulating
in-concert performance of Funk Song, an early Springsteen-composed instrumental that had been a staple of The Bruce Springsteen Band in 1971-72 (no live renditions from that era
are circulating, but a rehearsal take from early 1972 is). Interestingly Funk Song would be performed on two other known occasions during the following two weeks (July 29th and
August 8th), but seemingly never again after that. Unusually "Spirit In The Night" opens the set, rather than "Incident On 57th Street" which has been ever-present in the opening
slot so far this year. "Thunder Road" is full band. A Brucebase reader who attended this concert comments: it was outdoors in a natural amphitheatre. The show didnt start until
just before sunset, so we were treated to this amazing changing backdrop, from full light at the outset, through a spectacular, fiery sunset and then ending up in darkness with
Bruces typical great use of stage lighting. Bruce broke a guitar string and he didn't have any backup. That's what caused the band to perform "Gimme That Wine". While the band
played Bruce re-strung his guitar on stage. Miami Steve performed the soundcheck and the first half of the show without anything on his head, don't believe that's happened since!

This show (at least in part) was filmed by early Springsteen fan Barry Rebo; with a short clip turning up in the official Wings For Wheels documentary DVD more than 30 years after
the fact. Video of "The E Street Shuffle" was shown by Thom Zimny at the Rock 'n' Roll Hall Of Fame discussion in June 2009. A clip of the band taking the stage can also be seen in
Working on a Dream: A Super Bowl Journal, a documentary broadcast in September 2009.

This show just needed a little tender loving care to breathe some life into it. I corrected the tracks that were not split correctly, mainly on disc 1, and balanced the right and
left channels where needed. Also, to my ears Thunder Road ran a little fast, so I worked on that. I EQed disc 1, but disc 2 was a whole different story because the last 3 songs
were coming from another source. The sound was so buried that I did everything I could, using the lastest 2012 version of Magix Audio Cleaning Lab MX, to squeeze out every ounce
of highs, mids and lows. I also improved the pitch which sounded like Alvin and the Chipmunks covering Bruce. While this show may still be considered only for those wishing to
complete their collection, there are a couple of very rare songs peformed: "Gimme That Wine" and "Funk Song" and that alone makes it worth havin. If you're looking for the best
sounding remasters, check out the group from JEMS and EV2. I tend to work on shows that may not have the best sound to begin with, but perhaps with some determination and a lot of
hard work, improvements are made.

THE ARTWORK:

The images I used for the CD artwork were photos from the actual show. Ironically, the front pic was used on other circualting boots such as "Austin 75" and "It's Gonna Work Out Fine"
to name a few, but never on the actual Lenox show. So I used the appropriate photos relating to this show. The front right panel color pic and the larger left panel b&w pic were
scanned from the Backstreets book "Bruce Springsteen The Man And His Music." The back cover pic and all other photos were taken from Brucebase. Thanks to Pete from the U.K. for doing
a wonderful job on http://brucebase.wikispaces.com/

A little over a month later the Born To Run album was released!

Enoy!
