Viva Espaa, home to some of the most passionate Springsteen fans in the world and therefore some of Bruce's most inspired shows on the continent. JEMS is pleased to present another master tape recorded in Spain by our longtime friend and colleague Mr. T, none of which have ever circulated from a direct digital transfer. He asked that we try to release the definitive versions of his recordings, and this is the third in the series following Madrid August 2, 1988 and Barcelona August 3, 1988. Mr. T shipped his tapes to the late, great Jared Houser back in 2012 and Jared made the transfers back then, storing them on a hard drive which came into my possession after his untimely passing in October 2016.

Curiously, this show took place barely a month after the aforementioned Barcelona show in the same stadium, but isn't from the same tour. That's because immediately after Springsteen and the E Street Band wrapped the Tunnel of Love Express Tour at Camp Nou, he returned with pals Peter Gabriel, Sting, Tracy Chapman and Youssou N'Dour in town supporting the Amnesty Human Rights Now! tour. It's show six of that global trek and Bruce and the band are in fine form, powering through a tight, no-nonsense set.

Like Mr. T's other recordings, for the most part this is a clear, full capture with some sense of distance from the PA to the microphone and surrounding audience noise, but a solid document of the performance just the same. The sonic landscape does shift some from time to time as Mr. T moves with the crowd or his microphone repositions. Samples provided.

Please express your thanks to Mr T for taping the shows and making his masters available to JEMS. Of course we also recognize the work of the late, great Jared Houser for transferring the tapes. May he rest in peace.

Finally, thanks to mjk5510 for returning to Mr. T project, taking Jared's high-quality transfers and getting the most out of them and to Professor Goody for chipping in on the pitch check.

This is the only source for this show and has previously been released as "Chimes Of Freedom" on Flamingo Records. That release is missing "War" and mixes the FM tracks (faded in and out where there is DJ talk) and audience tracks out of sequence. This Mr. T audience source from an unknown generation tape transfer was released by me in 2015.

This is a substantial upgrade to all previous releases and very welcome addition to the lineup of "Amnesty Human Rights Now!" shows.

Also included as bonus tracks are the FM broadcast songs from Mr. T's tapes, we've chosen to leave in the DJ talk over the music so to not cut the tracks short.
