Notes:
First off, this is a great show. Second, this project was a bitch. Perhaps if I had the original audience and IEM files, it would have been easier to match up and
align the two sources. Unfortunately, both the Crystal Cat & Social Graces sources I used for this mix took great liberties in editing the audience between songs,
not to mention Crystal Cat's decision to split the transition from "Badlands" into "She's The One" over 2 discs, which presented another interesting challenge.
Add to the fact that both sources featured some pretty heavy processing, and you have one huge can of worms. I think I will have nightmares about this project for
years, due to the many headaches, stops and starts, discarded cues, and Hurricane Irene raging outside threatening to cut the power at a moment's notice.

Undaunted, I knew I could make this show sound better than either of the sources individually. So I mixed each and every track one by one, a very tedious and time
consuming process, and then mixed the whole damn thing together. Along the way some major adjustments had to be made to each source to prevent the whole
thing from sounding like a pile of sonic garbage, although no heavy processing was done (i.e. compression) to either source. In the end, I was very pleased with
the final result, which I think sounds pretty comparable to a professional release. The sterility of the IEM is gone, which Social Graces is calling a "soundboard" but to my
ears sounds like a plain IEM feed. The mix now has depth and an audience ambiance, although not intrusively so as in the dreadful mix on the officially released
"Live In Barcelona" DVD from this tour. All the instruments are clear and balanced, although the guitars are a little low in the mix at times, but that is the way they
were in the original sources I had to work with.

If you are one of those folks that likes your audience source REALLY LOUD in the mix like some of the IEM/Audience mixes I've heard, this one is not for you. I like
to hear the audience just enough to get some presense, but not to the point where it interferes with the music. I listen to shows for the music, not to hear some guy
yacking away through Racing In The Streets, or giving a "woo-hoo" every 10 seconds. I find that stuff very grating on the nerves, and not really all that pleasurable
to listen to, but I guess I am pickier than others. Therefore, I mixed down the audience source in a couple of spots where, quite frankly, I found it irritating. Also, I
master my recordings by feeding the sound through professional loudspeakers on a good system, not through some tiny computer speakers, and I make my mixing &
EQ judgements accordingly. In other words, I didn't pile on more volume and compression on top of already heavily processed recordings so it would sound good
on somebody's earbuds. If it is too quiet, then I suggest you turn it up, buy a better system/speakers, or both. Lastly, I split the tracks to fit over 3 CDs as the Social
Graces release did, because it made the most sense.

I am very proud of how this came out and how it sounds, and for me, this new mix represents one of the best sonic documents of the Rising Tour. The fact it was such
a great, high energy show with a great setlist doesn't hurt, either. It brings back great memories of the summer of 2003, and the excitement of catching Bruce at mutiple
shows here in the Northeast US as the Rising Tour came to a close. Sadly, it also reminds me of the crushing loss of two E Streeters, Danny Federici and Clarence
Clemons, who play their hearts off on this. Hearing Danny's organ swirling and Clarence's horn cutting through this mix brings a huge smile to my face, as well as the
unfortunate recognition that this would be the last tour these two would play on together to the end. Very bittersweet.

One last thing-I am seeding this here on Jungleland, and I would ask that you would kindly refrain from spreading this around to every other torrent site out there.
