Warning: This recording is incomplete and has several soundproblems.
As this recording is far from 'the Dutch Masters' standard it should not be uploaded here.
This recording has been hiding on a harddisk for over 6 months now.
I had hoped a decent recording of this great show would surface on any of the usual torrent sites.
But so far as I know this has not happened. Therefor I decided to prepare what I have of this show for upload here.
Why did not want to share this recording: It was tapers hell!
On the day of the concert I arrived with an Intercontinental - night flight at 06;00 hours at Schiphol airport. Home at 9 o'clock.
12 o'clock arrival at the Goffertpark: for a long wait. By the time the gates opened already a few hundred fans were in front of the stage. Entering the pit was not a problem.
So I decided to take a seat at the barrier dividing the pit from the rest of the park, in front of the speakers on the left side. Seconds before Bruce started some drunken,
loud talking all the time, guys came in front of me and as a German fan next to me was constantly clapping and singing out of tune. Besides recording, I like to enjoy a concert,
so I moved near the end of the fourth song. Most possibly the recorder was not on hold: so it went off. When checked an hour later, I discovered it and started recording again.
All the time people were walking and talking around me: for a while I was standing at the beer trail. people passed by in front of me with loads of beer. hitting the microphones several times.
Also some wind noise can be heard on the microphones. All this was not enough to spoil the recording: half way the show it started raining; at first only a little and nothing to worry about.
But At the end of the show it was pooring rain: didn't stop the recording but had to put on my raincoat and cover the microphones as good as possible.
All together one of the worst taping experiences ever! But at least there is something recorded.
So itseems there is a curse on my Bruce Springsteen taping: so far Out of 7 shows I ended up with 3 decent recordings.
It seems that when something goes wrong it's always at a Bruce Springsteen show.
Taping is not always as simple as it seems:
AHoy hal Rotterdam 22 October 2002: DAT recorder showed perfect recording levels > ended up with an empty tape.
De Kuip Rottterdam 6 may 2003: perfect spot, good tape.
De Kuip Rotterdam 8 may 2003: sold my ticket to be able to attend Neil Young at the Heineken Music Hal
Ahoy Rotterdam 19 june 2005: Left my recorder at home as I had a seat at the stands at the back of the floor > turned out to have a perfect sound there!
HMH Amsterdam 16 may 2006: ended up with a decent recording
Sportpaleis Antwerp 07-11-2006: arrived in time to get a spot in the pit > decent recording
SPortpaleis Antwerp 12-12-2007: A troublesome battery box (to power the microphones) > ended up with a bad recording
So there is no need for 'advices' on stealth recording. By now I know most of it.
Anyway try to enjoy what can be downloaded here...
For completists a gap is partialy filled.
So if there is anyone out there having a complete recording of this great show available give sent me an email or upload it here.
