Notes:
Here we have an unheard, uncirculated soundboard recording of the short-lived Bruford band supporting their One Of A Kind album in 1979. Pursued by drummer Bill Bruford after King Crimson disbanded, and after his stints with Gong, Brand X, Genesis, and UK, the Bruford band had a very unique sound, mixing elements of jazz fusion and progressive rock. While Bruford may not be one of the most well known bands, they are excellent musicians and the music deserves more recognition.
The lineup for this show in Nimes is Bill Bruford on drums, Jeff Berlin on bass, Dave Stewart on keyboards, and John Clark freshly replacing Allan Holdsworth on guitars.
This is essentially the raw transfer, since I overall prefer doing as little editing as possible. Only a speed adjustment and minor amplification was applied. The manual azimuth adjustment was done by briefly listening to the tape playing into a mono feed, with stereo headphones.
Enjoy the music and be grateful we are able hear these special recordings. If you have uncirculated tapes, please consider sharing them before they end up forever lost to time.
