Guy, Phil, 1991-06-07 - Chicago Ill. "Legends"
This was my first time attending the Chicago Blues fest. and I was lucky enough to meet and hang out with some really cool blues artists including Phil Guy. Phil not only allowed me to record that day but also invited me to record him that night at his brothers bar, Legends. I showed up early and he cleared my recording with the doorman. Guesting with Phil that night are Lee Shot Williams and Buddy Guy. At one point I thought I was going to be shut down when Buddy noticed my camcorder while he was playing. He pointed it out to Phil who said something to him and he paid me no more attention. Buddy had a bit of a hard time getting started. Had all kinds of problems with his guitar and eventually took someone elses guitar. The place was packed and loud. I'm really surprised the tape came out as well as it did. This was recorded with a Sony D3, unsure of mics. A couple songs split due to tape flips. Last song has end cut. Had to guess with song some titles. Thanks to Phil Guy,may he R.I.P., this was one of the best vacations I ever had. Enjoy, Share but don't sell.
