Here's another wonderful performance by Buddy tearing the roof off of the Fillmore in downtown Denver. This show was special in many ways. Buddy headlined the show opened up by John Mayall. The Fillmore is an old roller skating rink converted into a huge open "arena" that can hold thousands. So when Buddy has this many people crammed to the front of the stage, this is the type of audience that Buddy loves - to totally engage into his set. Buddy plays alot of special things and, truth be told, I think this was the last time I saw the spontenaity and brilliance of Buddy on stage. Old age sucks and I think it really starts to catch up with Buddy after this tour. This show is also special in that Buddy seems to really want to play all night, but is literally being dragged off the stage. What a great show this is.
The Fillmore is a tough place to get a good recording. To stand in the sweet spot usually means lots of audience noise to deal with. Somehow, I was able to get a pretty nice recording this night despite the elements. Sample included.
