lineage: AUD (by ijwthstd) > SP-CMC-4U mic > Sound Devices A10 > WAV 16/44 > edits (by Jerry1970): Audacity (normalisation, fades at start and end, limit a few peaks, remove a few mic pops, split into tracks) > FLAC 16/44.1

I got the untracked WAV file from ijwthstd's collection:
https://ijwthstd.blogspot.com/2022/03/buddy-guy-saban-theatre-2022-03-13.html

I loved the show and the recording and wanted to keep it for repeated listening, so decided to do some work on it. After normalisation to prevent clipping not a lot of work was needed. In one or two sections the sound changed, as if the taper was moving. Hearing some loud people in the audience I can see a reason for moving.

I limited some audience noises during the endings of the songs but mostly when Buddy Guy is talking and the audience is louder than he is.

There were a few pops from the mic. A few I could remove but some were just too hard and unnoticable to try and remove. There's a low level of hiss that is undoubtedly from the venue sound that I didn't bother with either.

Tracking was harder than expected. Buddy Guy regularly just stops a song mid-way to start a different song, to tell a story and then continue the song, or a different song. Sometimes an instrumental section with improvisations connects two songs and it's hard to tell where one song ends and the next one starts, like Mona Lisa Was A Man into Take Me To The River. Chances are I made some tracking decisions that are wrong or other people would have done differently, and I might have simply missed a track. Any input on this is welcome.

Most of the times I leave introductions with the song, but when a story is taking too long, I made a separate track for it ("Buddy Guy talks").

The band he's playing with is amazing, so it is a bit of a pity not being able to find any definite information on the musicians. Buddy Guy mentions some of them but it was too hard for me to hear and understand the names, so I have no idea who's playing. Was it "Buddy Guy and The Damn Right Blues Band" or something else? I don't know.

Many thanks to ijwthstd for the source file!

Enjoy!
