If you are looking for an alternative christmas album this might be the one.
Most melodies are old scandinavian and european traditional songs, but
Bugge Wesseltoft manages to get back to the core of the songs, and restore
their beauty.
Bugge Wesseltoft is best known for his modern jazz albums, so this album
is a surprise. This is a meditative approach where unnecessary ornaments
are removed. The music seems simple on the outside, and even if it is
wonderful to listen to the music passively, it can be actively listened
to hundreds of times.
The result is a fantastic album with a relaxed atmosphere.

Bugge Wesseltoft - Label Eigentümer, Mastermind und Strippenzieher der
norwegischen Szene, dazu höchst neugieriger und experimentierfreudiger
Musiker, der den elektronischen Jazz zu fernen, aber ganz wundervollen
Gestaden geführt hat. Einen Steinway Flügel hat er auch - und wir dürfen
dafür dankbar sein.
Denn in der Bochumer Christus Kirche - für sich genommen schon ein
großartiger Ort - spielt er seit 13 Jahren zum ersten Mal wieder sein
Piano Solo Konzert: "It's snowing on my piano". Ein Album das
100-Tausend Mal verkauft wurde und damit zu den erfolgreichsten Alben
dieser Branche überhaupt gehört. Ein Kollege der WAZ nannte es "Die größte
Weihnachts-CD, die der zeitgenössische Jazz je hervorgebracht hat."
