My favourite Planxty performance was at the 1974 Cambridge Folk Festival which they played as a five piece, and their set was so clean and pure, and at the same time alive with invention and nuance. It was the first time Paul Brady had appeared with the group and he was basically supplying mandolin and rhythm guitar, that Planxty that day were at the very summit of their awesome ability.
