I have not been able to identify track 01. Any help appreciated.

I got this in good old fashioned snail mail trade about 20 years ago from Jazzrita. Back in the days, during the mid-to-late 1980s, we were sceptical of Carla Bley "going pop". She, alongside with others of our old heros, Miles Davis in particular, were leaving the "true jazz faith" and "go commercial" by playing this music. something that was dangerously near being a synonym for prostitution in our ears at the time.

But over the years their music has grown on (some of) us oldies, and we have today a better understanding of the music they chose to present, why they did it and the ideographical history of this music.

We have (hopefully) grown wiser. Today I see this as a fine expression of the mid-late 1980s Carla Bley, of the Carla Bley of the mid-to-late 1980s albums "Heavy Heart", "Night-Glo", "Sextet" and the meat-eating flower "Fleur Carnivore". A period that has its own merits alongside the classic 1960s free jazz Carla, the 1970s "Weilian" theatrical Carla, and the Chamber music Carla of the 2000s. And not the least, the political Carla!

This particular set is typical for the period, with music from "Sextet" and "Night-Glo". The audio is excellent, described originally as pre-FM.
