Taper's Comments:

1 - HELP!! If you have any uncirculated SPIRIT shows, or better quality FM
broadcasts than what's been posted here before, please share them. If you
know anybody who has shows that fit this category that aren't on DIME, please
dub off their stuff and share it. I'm trying to write a book on SPIRIT and need
all the information I can get. I have a database of over 1500 gigs 1967-1996, and
want to find as much information as I can to add to it. If you have any memories
of where you saw SPIRIT, the more specific the better (venue, city, date, supporting
bands, etc.), I'd love to know that as well. Please leave that in the comments
section or PM me. Thank you!

2 - Show description & comments follow:
There were a few times when I used to loan my tape recorder to close friends so
they could go record shows they wanted to see. The price was that I got a copy of
whatever they recorded, and this is one of them.

This is one of the gigs supporting the release of Carmine Appice's first solo album.
I believe they only did short tours of Japan and the US to support it. Carmine mentions
that this gig is the last night of their nearly three week tour of the US, so obviously
there were around 20 gigs or less. From what I can gather, they had Eric Carmen
and Tom Petersson on board for the Japan leg of the tour, and Tim Bogert for the
US leg of the tour. There was one last gig with Petersson in mid-April 1982 in NYC
that was broadcast, and that was it. Carmine, Rick, and Duane would later record
as DNA with the album "Party Tested".

For his first effort, my friends recording is pretty good. I hear some minor issues maybe
with the directionality of the ECM-16 microphone on Track 6 and a few other places,
but the sound remains good. I believe he recorded the show on a C-120, as I can hear
a very well edited tape flip on Track 9, and then he put it on two C-90's for me. Enjoy!
