Taper's Notes:
This was the 2nd and last show to date that I saw at this venue and it was an odd sort of venue
in that it was just basically an old movie theater (even having the old style tilting seats)
with the screen removed and a generic kind of light rig just up the sides and above the stage.
Very intimate show to say the least, even being mentioned by Rick up on stage, and goes to
where the title comes from. The main downside to this place was it got hotter than hell in
there as I don't think the a/c could keep up with all the gear and lights even in the cooler
weather months. They didn't play Dream Police like they had the night before in a real theater
and Frampton had done the same thing because of the heat a few months before in dropping a song
and complaining of the heat.
We were pretty close to the action around 10th row, so close that at one point Rick flicks a
guitar pick and it ends up in my girlfriend's cleavage and now adourns the back of the artwork ;)
It was like night and day in comparing it to the night before in a good size theater setting,
this one was loud and raw and everything I'm use to with Cheap Trick and way more in tune
with a club style gig. The first 4 songs were more of an acoustical nature with the band
members gathered up front. This had to do with Bun E. Carlos I think coming back from back
surgery if I recall and allowed him to stand up at first and then not spend as much time
sitting down the whole time. The crowd is heard here and there and gives you the nice normal
"feel like you're there" sound, but nothing disctracting or obnoxious at all.
They put on a great high energy show though and I was really digging Rick's guitar sound/tone
and Robin Zander was pretty on here as well with the background vocals coming through nicely.
Along with Tom and Bun E. driving things home, even newer stuff like Pop Drone was rockin' and
the classics were definitely smokin'!
Release Notes:
This is a slight re-release of this show that was originally released in 2005. The original
was in SHN format while this is in FLAC and the text file has been updated as well. A few of
the original artworks have been updated, the main one being to add a guitar pick from the show.
As always, feel free to share this anywhere you'd like, MP3 is fine for personal use,
but please don't distribute in that format.
Please do not distribute any re-mastered, matrixed, edited, or modified versions of this
release. A great deal of effort went into capturing and producing this recording, and we
would prefer it to remain as we have presented it. Your cooperation will encourage many
more releases in the future. ;)
Thanks & enjoy the show!
