Notes:
This is a tribute band I've wanted to see for quite awhile (going back
more than 2 years), and because they only play a handful of shows a year,
its been very hard to catch them. However, they finally added a great
Sunday show that worked with my schedule! Hooray! I asked the band for
taping permission and they were very accommodating. However, the manager
of the Blue Note did not appreciate my stand being set up in front of the
tables during the first set, so I was forced to lower the stand to 4ft
towards the front center of the room where the seated attendants could see
over it. No one complained (for the record), he just didn't want any
problems with sightlines. I understood & apologized. So, the sound does
change a bit between sets, but both still sound great. No one came and
stood in front of the 4ft stand as the GA floor was empty with everyone
seated at their reserved tables. The band was terrific and exceeded all
expectations. They played (almost) all of the 1969 debut, so that was
exciting. They seem to do a great job with the early material, which is
probably why "Hard Habit To Break" & "We Can Stop The Hurtin'" were the
only songs represented from the 1980s. I was also a little bummed they
left out "If You Leave Me Now", but maybe next time. "Free" was on the
printed setlist as an optional 2nd encore, but was skipped.
