Wayne Shorter and Milton Nascimento guest on the last track or two.

[record] Audio Technica AT853 microphone > Sony TCM-D6 portable cassette deck (mono two channels, TDK MA90 metal bias cassettes, Dolby C on)

[playback] JVC KD-V6 (playback, with Dolby off) > Sek'd Prodif Plus soundcard > Sound Forge 8 (24 bit, normalize, fade in and out, track splits, bit depth conversion) > 16 bit .wav files > FLAC level 8 encoding align on sector boundaries

Recording with Dolby C boosts high and mid frequencies by 20dB. Playing back with Dolby C cuts mid and high frequencies by 20dB. But Dolby circuits vary from machine to machine and I didn't hear any tape hiss that seemed to need reducing so I transferred this with Dolby off, which resulted in a little extra brightness to the recording, which I deemed acceptable. You, the end listener, are free to apply noise reduction techniques however you choose - however, I would ask that this recording be circulated without any such noise reduction.

Some wind noise mars this recording but it is not pervasive. On the bill at this show, in order of appearance: Al DiMeola (solo); Milton Nascimento; Wayne Shorter; Chick Corea. I am offering the Wayne Shorter set in a separate torrent. The DiMeola and Nascimento sets had too much wind noise to be listenable, which was really a shame cause Milton was the main attraction for me. The Greek Theatre is a big bowl in the hills of Berkeley overlooking the San Francisco Bay. The show stared at 3pm: my guess is that as afternoon turned into early evening the wind died down.
