tracks were rerarranged to fit on 2 discs, the track numbers indicate the actual sequence
of the show. This was one of N.P.R.'s New Year's Eve concert broadcasts and focuses on
much of Corea's outside- RTF works. I did edit out some of the chatter, saving all
music and most talk of significance. Since it's a West Coast show, and I'm on the East U.S.
coast, this show ended about 5 AM Boston time. Fortunately unlike some other West coast
broadcasts carried on the east Coast on other stations, WBUR hung in there until the end
with this one and it was worth it. A nice acoustic music showcase for Chick Corea, there
is some electric piano stuff in here but the theme seems focused on Chick's acoustic piano
talents. When I upped the Avery Fisher Hall 78 concert, I screwed up, since I meant to up
this one first (due to the season) but you were gonna get both these anyway. This is not at
all like a "repeat performance" of the 78 one, I thought Clarke was in that one, apparently
I confused it with this one since Clarke does play in here (Rick Laird is in the other 78
show, from June 78 at White House Jazz Fest, previously posted).
The musicians and music in here are different than my earlier NY 78 Chick post and NO it was
NOT recorded on that bottom of the line CRAPNICS deck I had for a couple of months before this.
That may have been the worst recorder I've ever had to use. Not a great one for this, but at
least not a crummy one. This recording is clean, this is the whole long show (I believe) and
all from my original FM master tapes. There may be a flip cut or two (if so, spliced- I think,
and hope...) but nothing too jarring.
this is a seamless recording.
do not sell this recording.
