Notes about the gig: As always I was awestruck by these guys. Never disappointing, always
perfect. The first two songs made the ticket worthwhile for me - Light as a feather was
at the top of my list, I even tweeted both of them about it. Maybe they listened, maybe not.
I got the song anyway and I am very happy about that. Some nice interaction took place on
stage yesterday, Stanley obviously hadn't played Armando's rhumba in a while but he got the
groove soon enough. They decided between each song which song would be next, and that first
set is a killer for me. The second set was a bit "safer", but the music is fantastic anyway
of course. The encore (track 9) was just started by Chick to a confused Stanley, it's a
standard but I can't for the life of me recall the title. Help would be appreciated.
About the recording: They played very quietly, which is always hard to capture. The audience
were into it at times but fairly quiet too. Still, every applause break comes as a friggin'
stampede to my ears. I am no audio expert and don't like to tamper too much, my remedy came
instead in the track splitting. I tried to isolate the music as best I could, making every
applause and introduction between songs into their own tracks. Not that I want anyone to miss
out on the joking and whatever, but if anyone wants to hear the music only you can skip the
other tracks. The sample in the first comment is a minute from Light as a feather, music only.
It's very clear and in headphones it sounds pretty good.
Lastly, if any audiophile out there wants to have a go at this (someone made my Corea/Burton
recording from Gothenburg much better) just let me know. I have the two untampered full files
available and will gladly share them if you think you can do an improved job on this, I for
one would greatly appreciate it.
