Chris Cain
Waterfront Blues Festival
Portland, OR.
July 3, 2017

This set was one of the highlights of the festival, IMHO. Chris Cain has a new CD out and track's 1,2,3,6 & 7 are here live for us to enjoy. Check it out.

Here it is again this year, Waterfront Blues Festival. I'm not going to be recording much this year. I'm just to busy with family and retirement. The radio station is still cutting in at weird time to announce all the station call numbers. To me it's an annoyance. I'll try to edit these out if possible.

Cheers to all, twofthrs

Nowadays most young blues players are Strat-wielding Stevie Ray Vaughan-a-bes. Not CHRIS CAIN. With a voice that recalls B.B. King and a thick toned Gibson guitar sound reminiscent of Albert King, CAIN is forging a unique style. one of the most compelling bluesmen on todays scene. - Larry Nager (syndicated Scripps-Howard music critic)

The East San Jose rundown of CHRIS CAINS youth was a full cross polinization of influence. Cliff Coulter and Robin Ford. Los Tigres and Smith Dobson. Tons of bars and clubs:Arturos Tropical Village, The Starlight Ballroom, Twenty Grand, Hell, The Saddle Rack! On and on.

Everybody played everything, everywhere, all the time.

CHRIS CAIN didnt come out of this scene- he was born into it. A father who took him everywhere to see everybodyBB, JT, Stevie Ray and Count Basie when the rest of us were still playing with army men. Hell he was still playing with army men.

So he plays guitar and sings like a bird. But he also plays piano (like Ray) and alto sax (like Ray)

He does it all. His feel cannot be surpassed.

This is known.
